Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.61%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.03 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.75 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(up 1.45 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 1.44 per cent) and Natco Pharma Ltd.(up 1.1 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 0.12 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.61 per cent up at 21804.8.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 200.41 points at 25244.75, while the BSE Sensex stood up 700.4 points at 82755.51.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 ended in the green, while 9 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Network18 Media, YES Bank, RattanIndia Power and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Prabha Energy, EID Parry, Quality Power Electr, Nesco Ltd and ITD Cementation hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while TECIL Chemicals, Sadhana Nitro, Osia Hyper Retail, Gensol Engg and Uma Exports hit their fresh 52-week lows.
