Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.61%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Lupin(up 2.85 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(up 2.45 per cent), Laurus(up 1.43 per cent), Abbott India(up 1.13 per cent) and Biocon(up 1.0 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Gland Pharma(down 3.53 per cent), Sanofi India(down 1.36 per cent), Divis Laboratories(down 0.49 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 0.03 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories(down 0.02 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.61 per cent up at 15398.8.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 30.45 points at 19465.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 137.5 points at 65539.42.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.

Shares of Indian Railway Fin, SBFC Finance, Reliance Power, Vodafone Idea and IOB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of SBFC Finance, Texmo Pipe Prod, GRSE, Cochin Shipyard and Krishca Strapping So hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Goldstar Power, Synoptics Technologi, BKM Industries, Genesys Intnl and Oriana Power hit their fresh 52-week lows.
