Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.56%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Monday.
Shares of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 4.63 per cent), Mankind Pharma Ltd.(up 4.52 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.89 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(up 2.55 per cent) and Laurus Labs Ltd.(up 1.58 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 2.75 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.72 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.43 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 1.03 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.17 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.56 per cent up at 23134.25.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 148.1 points at 25939.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 384.3 points at 84928.61.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 ended in the green, while 16 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, SBFC Finance, YES Bank, HFCL and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of SBFC Finance, Amber Enterprises, Skipper Ltd, Optiemus Infra and United Polyfab Gujar hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Fusion Micro Finance, Dhanvarsha Finvest, Future Consumer, Ankit Metal Pwr and Stampede Cap(DVR)hit their fresh 52-week lows.
