Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.54%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Natco Pharma(up 1.47 per cent), Cipla(up 1.4 per cent), Biocon(up 1.36 per cent), Granules India(up 1.3 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.08 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Alkem Laboratories(down 1.05 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(down 0.66 per cent), Laurus(down 0.64 per cent), Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(down 0.34 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences(down 0.13 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.54 per cent up at 12654.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 165.95 points at 18255.8, while the BSE Sensex stood up 555.95 points at 61749.25.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red.

Shares of Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd., Suzlon Energy, Zomato Ltd., Rail Vikas Nigam and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of RS Software, Kamdhenu Ventures Ltd., Banswara Syntex, Va Tech Wabag and One Point One Soluti hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Salasar Exteriors, Punjab Chemical, Parin Furniture, Virinchi and Infinium Pharmachem hit their fresh 52-week lows.
