Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.47%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.
Shares of Pfizer(up 3.0 per cent), Divis Laboratories(up 1.81 per cent), Cipla(up 1.58 per cent), Biocon(up 1.33 per cent) and Strides Pharma Science(up 1.15 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Lupin(down 2.13 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 1.86 per cent), Abbott India(down 1.35 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 0.99 per cent) and Laurus(down 0.79 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.47 per cent up at 13444.7.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 53.15 points at 17266.75, while the BSE Sensex stood up 187.39 points at 57808.58.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Adani Wilmar Ltd., Reliance Power and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Madhya Bharat Agro, Poddar Housing, Mahalaxmi Rub, TVS Electronics and Advani Hotels hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Lasa Supergenerics, Timescan Logistics(India)Ltd., Sansera Engineering Ltd., Precision Metaliks Ltd. and Uniinfo Telecom Serv hit their fresh 52-week lows.
