Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.43%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Laurus(up 2.17 per cent), Lupin(up 1.95 per cent), Cipla(up 1.65 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 1.52 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences(up 1.12 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Gland Pharma(down 5.23 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 1.73 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 0.45 per cent), Granules India(down 0.4 per cent) and Natco Pharma(down 0.39 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.43 per cent up at 13144.2.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 140.3 points at 18758.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 417.81 points at 63099.65.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 ended in the green, while 8 closed in the red.
Shares of Zomato Ltd., Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd., Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and Indian Hotels were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of HLV Ltd., Likhitha Infra, Taj GVK Hotels, SBC Exports and HUDCO hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sanwaria Consumer, FutureLifestyleFash, Nureca Ltd., Jump Networks and Sheela Foam hit their fresh 52-week lows.
