Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.42%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Friday.
Shares of Strides Pharma Science(up 9.51 per cent), Granules India(up 5.05 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(up 2.01 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 1.92 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma(up 1.74 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Alkem Laboratories(down 0.96 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 0.82 per cent), Pfizer(down 0.28 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.04 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.42 per cent up at 12178.4.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 142.6 points at 15699.25, while the BSE Sensex stood up 462.26 points at 52727.98.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 ended in the green, while 9 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Bank of Baroda and IDFC First Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Rolex Rings, Sterling Tools, Kohinoor Foods, Globesecure Technologies Ltd. and Regency Ceramic hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Quadpro ITeS Ltd., Star Health, Vaxtex Cotfab, Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd. and Lasa Supergenerics hit their fresh 52-week lows.
