Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.42%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 2.2 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(up 1.66 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 1.48 per cent), Abbott India Ltd.(up 1.45 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 1.44 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 4.51 per cent), Pfizer Ltd.(down 3.68 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(down 2.79 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 1.99 per cent) and GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.53 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.42 per cent up at 18564.85.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 1.1 points at 21930.5, while the BSE Sensex stood down 34.09 points at 72152.0.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, IOB, UCO Bank and RattanIndia Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Zaggle Prepaid Ocean, Mittal Life Style, Automotive Stamp, TRF Ltd and W S Industries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Navin Fluorine, Latteys Industries, Astec Lifesc, Stampede Cap(DVR)and Bannari Amman hit their fresh 52-week lows.
