Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.35%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(up 3.18 per cent), Lupin Ltd.(up 2.83 per cent), Natco Pharma Ltd.(up 2.5 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 1.58 per cent) and Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.56 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Abbott India Ltd.(down 3.26 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.27 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(down 2.22 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(down 0.61 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 0.58 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.35 per cent up at 22114.25.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 180.5 points at 24117.0, while the BSE Sensex stood down 581.79 points at 78886.22.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 ended in the green, while 38 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, HFCL and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of ART Nirman, Adhunik Industries, Garware Poly, Rajdarshan Ind and 3P Land Holdings hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Fusion Micro Finance, Focus Lighting, Tasty Bite Eatable, Baid Leasing and Nandani Creation hit their fresh 52-week lows.
