Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.33%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Monday.
Shares of Natco Pharma Ltd.(up 3.24 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.68 per cent), Abbott India Ltd.(up 2.6 per cent), Lupin Ltd.(up 2.54 per cent) and Granules India Ltd.(up 2.4 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 2.78 per cent), Ajanta Pharma Ltd.(down 1.69 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.99 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 0.91 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(down 0.71 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.33 per cent up at 19879.8.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 5.41 points at 22119.3, while the BSE Sensex stood down 112.16 points at 73085.94.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, JP Power and Jio Financial Services were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Narayana Hruday, Reliance Naval & Engg, Bohra Industries, Capital Infra Trust and Abbott India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Uniinfo Telecom Serv, Mangalam Drugs, Lancor Holdings, N R Agarwal Ind and DiGiSPICE Tech hit their fresh 52-week lows.
