Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.26%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Granules India Ltd.(up 4.32 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(up 2.86 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.78 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(up 1.51 per cent) and Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.48 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.54 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.94 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 0.74 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(down 0.52 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.43 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.26 per cent up at 15489.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 33.1 points at 20103.1, while the BSE Sensex stood up 52.01 points at 67519.0.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 ended in the green, while 19 closed in the red.
Shares of JP Power, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Indian Railway Fin and NBCC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Elgi Rubber Co, Andrew Yule, Kalyani Steels, BCL Industries and Magadh Sugar Energy hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vaxtex Cotfab, Penta Gold, Dangee Dums, Brookfield India Rea and Blue Coast Hotel hit their fresh 52-week lows.
