Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.12%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Friday.
Shares of Mankind Pharma Ltd.(up 2.78 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.13 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.2 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(up 0.63 per cent) and Lupin Ltd.(up 0.4 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Granules India Ltd.(down 1.76 per cent), Sanofi India Ltd.(down 0.93 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 0.67 per cent), Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 0.65 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.63 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.12 per cent up at 23457.65.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 32.41 points at 25356.5, while the BSE Sensex stood down 71.77 points at 82890.94.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, Zomato and IDBI Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of TBZ, Sundaram-Clayton, Biofil Chem, Oswal Green Tech and Renaissance Global hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Stampede Cap(DVR), PowerGrid Infa InvIT, GIR Natureview, BDR Buildcon and IndInfravit Trust hit their fresh 52-week lows.
