Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.11%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 10.1 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(up 5.08 per cent), Gland Pharma(up 3.96 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(up 2.44 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences(up 1.92 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Ipca Laboratories(down 2.31 per cent), Divis Laboratories(down 2.01 per cent), Abbott India(down 1.91 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 1.23 per cent) and Cipla(down 0.75 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.11 per cent up at 12557.5.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 144.35 points at 16170.15, while the BSE Sensex stood up 503.27 points at 54252.53.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, SAIL, YES Bank and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Medico Remedies, Shubhlaxmi Jewel Art, Impex Ferro Tech, AVSL Industries and Shanti Overseas(Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Apollo Sindoori, Sequent Scientific, Silly Monks Entertai, Eldeco Housing and Vaibhav Global hit their fresh 52-week lows.
