Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.09%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Friday.
Shares of Cipla(up 1.57 per cent), Gland Pharma(up 1.43 per cent), Abbott India(up 1.38 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 1.21 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories(up 0.73 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 2.26 per cent), Natco Pharma(down 2.03 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(down 1.06 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 1.02 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma(down 0.71 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.09 per cent up at 12732.0.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 110.55 points at 16049.2, while the BSE Sensex stood up 344.63 points at 53760.78.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 ended in the green, while 16 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, Zomato Ltd. and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Lumax Auto Tech, GRP Ltd, PC Jeweller, BLS Int. Services and Akshar Spintex hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Electrotherm, Suumaya Lifestyle, DRC Systems India Ltd., Policy Bazaar and Uttam Galva Stl hit their fresh 52-week lows.
