Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.08%

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.08 per cent up at 12634.3.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Pfizer(up 3.75 per cent), Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(up 0.81 per cent), Sanofi India(up 0.61 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 0.56 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences(up 0.51 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Granules India(down 2.13 per cent), Biocon(down 1.14 per cent), Divis Laboratories(down 0.99 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 0.88 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma(down 0.69 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.08 per cent up at 12634.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 68.5 points at 18191.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 223.6 points at 61133.88.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, IOB, PNB, Suzlon Energy and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Uma Converter Ltd., Arihant Academy Ltd., HEC Infra Projects, Sandesh Ltd and Swastik Pipe Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Shaily Engg Pla, Kavveri Telecom, Sintex Inds., Godha Cabcon & Insul and Abans Holdings Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
