Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.03%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Monday.
Shares of Aurobindo Pharma(up 6.1 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(up 5.62 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(up 3.78 per cent), Pfizer(up 2.71 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 2.68 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 3.86 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 2.97 per cent), Natco Pharma(down 2.17 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(down 1.85 per cent) and Lupin(down 1.33 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.03 per cent up at 13549.55.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 169.45 points at 17117.6, while the BSE Sensex stood down 571.44 points at 57292.49.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, NALCO and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Selan Expl Tech, Krishana Phoschem, Ruchira Papers, Vaishali Pharma and Southern Petro hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while DRC Systems India Ltd., FutureLifestyleFash, Future Retail, PayTM and Felix Industries hit their fresh 52-week lows.
