Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.01%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.8 per cent), Mankind Pharma Ltd.(up 1.1 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 0.95 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.75 per cent) and Abbott India Ltd.(up 0.73 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Biocon Ltd.(down 2.89 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 2.53 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 2.02 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 1.74 per cent) and Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 1.65 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.01 per cent up at 20768.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 187.85 points at 24800.85, while the BSE Sensex stood up 626.91 points at 81343.46.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Teleservices, YES Bank, IRFC and Indian Renewable were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of MTNL, Krebs Biochem, Just Dial, Umang Dairies and Manomay Tex India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sah Polymers, IRIS Clothings, Akme Fintrade(India, Landmark Cars and Praxis Home Retail hit their fresh 52-week lows.
