Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.01%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Monday.
Shares of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 4.52 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 2.0 per cent), Abbott India Ltd.(up 1.48 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 1.36 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 1.19 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.87 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(down 1.52 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.3 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 0.91 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.55 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.01 per cent up at 15806.75.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 37.8 points at 19694.0, while the BSE Sensex stood down 139.58 points at 65655.15.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 ended in the green, while 29 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, RattanIndia Power, Reliance Power and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Talbros Auto, DRC Systems India, Tokyo Plast Int, Tata Investment and SML Isuzu hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rajesh Exports, Penta Gold, Debock Sales & Mktg, SS Infrastructure and ASK Automotive hit their fresh 52-week lows.
