Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index 1.12%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a note on Tuesday.
Shares of Mankind Pharma Ltd.(up 4.2 per cent), Natco Pharma Ltd.(up 1.36 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(up 1.01 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(up 0.69 per cent) and Abbott India Ltd.(up 0.14 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 3.05 per cent), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.81 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 2.25 per cent), Sanofi India Ltd.(down 2.09 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.85 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.12 per cent at 22601.40.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 127.7 points at 24466.85, while the BSE Sensex stood 363.99 points at 80369.03.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, PNB, YES Bank and Federal Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Dynamic Cables, The Anup Engg, Ami Organics, SJS Enterprises and Gillette India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Shankar Lal Rampal, Spandana Sphoorty, Ashapura Minechem, ideaForge Technology and Control Print hit their fresh 52-week lows.
