NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a note on Monday.
Shares of Ajanta Pharma Ltd.(up 2.56 per cent), Abbott India Ltd.(up 1.57 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.45 per cent) and Granules India Ltd.(up 0.45 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 4.24 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(down 3.02 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.59 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 2.17 per cent) and Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 2.0 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.82 per cent at 23073.05.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 388.71 points at 23616.05, while the BSE Sensex stood 1258.12 points at 77964.99.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 4 ended in the green, while 46 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, ITI Ltd, Suzlon Energy and Union Bank India were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of ITI Ltd, Thyrocare Tech., Mangal Credit, PTC Industries and Avonmore Capital hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Spacenet Enterprise, Jai Corp, Foods & Inns, Ecos(India)Mobilit and PTC India hit their fresh 52-week lows.
