Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 1.43%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of LTIMindtree Ltd(up 0.09 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, MPhasis(down 3.34 per cent), Coforge(down 3.24 per cent), Wipro(down 2.48 per cent), Persistent Systems(down 2.02 per cent) and Tech Mahindra(down 1.61 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 1.43 per cent down at 28442.95.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 111.65 points at 16988.4, while the BSE Sensex stood down 360.95 points at 57628.95.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 13 ended in the green, while 37 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., PNB and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Geekay Wires, Shrem InvIT, SP Refractories Ltd., Annapurna Swadisht Ltd. and Stampede Cap hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rite Zone Chemcon India Ltd., MPS Infotecnics, Ganges Securities, Future Consumer and Loyal Textiles hit their fresh 52-week lows.
