Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 1.43%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of MPhasis(up 0.33 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Infosys(down 2.89 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 2.84 per cent), Coforge(down 1.5 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 1.3 per cent) and L&T Technology(down 1.24 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 1.43 per cent down at 27734.35.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 126.35 points at 17877.4, while the BSE Sensex stood down 412.96 points at 59934.01.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 ended in the green, while 39 closed in the red.

Shares of JP Power, IDFC First Bank, Zomato Ltd., YES Bank and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Ceat, Aarvi Encon, Trans & Rectif, Weizmann Ltd and JK Tyre hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Dynemic Product, Veekayem Fashion & Apparels Ltd., Alembic Pharma, Piramal Ent. and Sanofi India hit their fresh 52-week lows.
