Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 1.17%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 0.73 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Coforge Ltd.(down 3.56 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 2.01 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.58 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 1.55 per cent) and Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.9 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 1.17 per cent down at 42230.7.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 86.05 points at 24971.3, while the BSE Sensex stood down 318.76 points at 81501.36.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 ended in the green, while 33 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, JP Power, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and Railtel Corp were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Precision Camshaft, Stylam Ind, IFB Industries, Rallis India and Gala Precision Engin hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while MEP Infrastructure, Akshar Spintex, SecUR Credentials, Narmada Agrobase and Keerti Knowledge hit their fresh 52-week lows.
