Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 1.14%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Thursday.
Shares of L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 1.31 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.01 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Coforge Ltd.(down 4.8 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(down 4.71 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 3.5 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 1.14 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(down 1.11 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 1.14 per cent down at 42426.65.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 86.41 points at 23249.5, while the BSE Sensex stood up 226.85 points at 76759.81.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, IDFC First Bank and BEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Associated Alcohols & Breweries, Blue Jet Healthcare, Jindal Drilling, SRF and CarTrade Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Raymond Lifestyle L, Asahi Songwon, MITCON Const & Engg.(PP), Tata Motors and Balaxi Pharma hit their fresh 52-week lows.
