Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 1.03%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.58 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.3 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 0.04 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Infosys Ltd.(down 2.74 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.19 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.61 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.58 per cent) and Coforge Ltd.(down 0.33 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 1.03 per cent down at 30530.5.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 159.6 points at 19122.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 522.82 points at 64049.06.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, JP Power, IOB and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Welspun Invst, Macpower CNC Machine, Wealth First Port, Welspun India and Kewal Kiran Clo hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Krishana Phoschem, Netweb Technologies, Updater Service, Arihant Superst and SecMark Consultancy hit their fresh 52-week lows.
