Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.97%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 1.05 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, MphasiS Ltd.(down 2.18 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.71 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.59 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.55 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(down 1.36 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.97 per cent down at 34514.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 197.8 points at 21513.0, while the BSE Sensex stood down 670.93 points at 71355.22.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 ended in the green, while 38 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Trident Ltd, Vodafone Idea, GMR Infra and Reliance Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Morarjee Text, Pavna Industries, Shyam Century Ferro, Vertoz Advertising and Sula Vineyards hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Penta Gold, Gandhar Oil Refinery, Raj Rayon, Muthoot Microfin and Azad Engineering hit their fresh 52-week lows.
