Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.94%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.08 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Wipro Ltd.(down 3.16 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.22 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(down 1.2 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(down 1.18 per cent) and L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 1.11 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.94 per cent down at 42450.5.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 81.15 points at 25198.7, while the BSE Sensex stood down 202.8 points at 82352.64.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Piramal Pharma, Zomato and JM Financial were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Deep Industries, Refex Industries, CCL Products, TBZ and Medi Assist Healthcare Services hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Globale Tessile, Mahalaxmi Fabric Mil, Revathi Equipment, Brainbees Solutions and Avantel hit their fresh 52-week lows.
