Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.79%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of L&T Technology(up 1.18 per cent), MPhasis(up 0.28 per cent), Coforge(up 0.15 per cent) and Tech Mahindra(up 0.06 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Wipro(down 1.81 per cent), Infosys(down 1.45 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 0.74 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 0.72 per cent) and Mindtree(down 0.71 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.79 per cent down at 30018.9.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 12.25 points at 17956.5, while the BSE Sensex stood up 37.87 points at 60298.0.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 27 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Ruby Mills, Rane Holdings, Orbit Exports, Bharat Wire Ropes and Vesuvius India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while GVK Power Infra, Vipul Ltd, Future Enterprises, Sadbhav Infra and AGC Networks hit their fresh 52-week lows.
