Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.74%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Thursday.
Shares of LTIMindtree Ltd(up 0.51 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Coforge(down 1.52 per cent), Persistent Systems(down 1.37 per cent), Infosys(down 1.37 per cent), MPhasis(down 1.16 per cent) and Wipro(down 0.83 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.74 per cent down at 28811.15.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 85.6 points at 18771.25, while the BSE Sensex stood down 284.26 points at 63238.89.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 ended in the green, while 39 closed in the red.
Shares of Alok Industries, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power and IDFC First Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Urban Enviro Waste Management Ltd., Spectrum Talent Management Ltd., Uttam Sugar Mil, Crayons Advertising and Blue Chip India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Lexus Granito(India), TECIL Chemicals, Sindhu Trade, PowerGrid Infa InvIT and Cerebra Integrat hit their fresh 52-week lows.
