Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.71%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.
Shares of Coforge Ltd.(up 1.32 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 0.38 per cent) and MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.28 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 1.97 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 1.83 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.85 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.85 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(down 0.78 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.71 per cent down at 34793.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 8.71 points at 22453.3, while the BSE Sensex stood down 110.64 points at 73903.91.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, NHPC and BEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Meghmani Finechem, Thejo Engg, Aditya Birla Cap., Nila Spaces L and Sadbhav Eng hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Mask Investments, Onelife Capital, GIR Natureview, BDR Buildcon and IndInfravit Trust hit their fresh 52-week lows.
