Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.66%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of Tech Mahindra(up 0.12 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, MPhasis(down 3.13 per cent), Coforge(down 2.8 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd(down 2.07 per cent), Persistent Systems(down 1.42 per cent) and L&T Technology(down 1.31 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.66 per cent down at 29545.5.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 176.7 points at 17412.9, while the BSE Sensex stood down 671.15 points at 59135.13.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 ended in the green, while 35 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, Tata Steel and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Sona Hi Sona Jewell, Binani Ind, Tarmat Ltd, Kamat Hotels and Arrow Greentech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Antarctica Ltd, GRM Overseas, Future Consumer, GTL Infra and Libas Designs hit their fresh 52-week lows.
