Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.64%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Persistent Systems(up 0.35 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, MPhasis(down 2.91 per cent), Coforge(down 2.5 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 1.48 per cent), L&T Technology(down 1.19 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd(down 0.83 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.64 per cent down at 30914.55.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 120.9 points at 19265.8, while the BSE Sensex stood down 365.83 points at 64886.51.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 ended in the green, while 41 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Jio Financial Servic, Suzlon Energy, JP Power and Reliance Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Ind-Swift Labs, Parag Milk Foods, Virescent Renewable, GFL Ltd. and Electrostl Cast hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sadhana Nitro, Penta Gold, Hotel Rugby, Yasho Industries and Zeal Global Services hit their fresh 52-week lows.
