Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.49% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded negative around 10:39AM(IST)on Friday in a weak market.

HCL Technologies(up 0.07 per cent) were among the top gainers.

MPhasis(down 1.28 per cent), Coforge(down 0.9 per cent), Mindtree(down 0.79 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 0.67 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(down 0.49 per cent) were the top losers on the index.


The Nifty IT index was down 0.49 per cent at 27793.1 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 67.15 points at 17264.65, while the BSE Sensex was down 226.53 points at 57995.57.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.

Shares of JP Power, Suzlon Energy, Shree Ren Sug, YES Bank and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of SML Isuzu, Rites, Autoline Ind, Indian Terrain and Varanium Cloud Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sabar Flex India Ltd., Viviana Power Tech Ltd., Tips Films Ltd., Kandarp Digi Smart BPO Ltd. and Reliance Comm hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
