Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.47%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 2.98 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.5 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(up 0.48 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.28 per cent) and MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.22 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 1.91 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.33 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 1.17 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.87 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(down 0.19 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.47 per cent down at 37500.7.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 123.31 points at 22023.35, while the BSE Sensex stood down 453.85 points at 72643.43.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 ended in the green, while 36 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, NHPC, Suzlon Energy and Indian Railway Fin were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of R K Swamy, Solar Ind., Wealth First Port, Somi Conveyor and Gopal Snacks hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Davangere Sugar, Omkar Speciality, Bohra Industries, Hindustan Zinc and Bannari Amman hit their fresh 52-week lows.
