Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.44%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Coforge(up 2.45 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(up 0.18 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, MPhasis(down 2.74 per cent), L&T Technology(down 2.38 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 1.21 per cent), Wipro(down 1.09 per cent) and Tech Mahindra(down 0.82 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.44 per cent down at 29624.85.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 25.85 points at 15782.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 136.69 points at 52793.62.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., Tata Motors, YES Bank and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Avro India, Silver Touch Tech, Penta Gold, Impex Ferro Tech and Lexus Granito(India)hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Indus Towers, Oracle, Honeywell, Yuken India and Emami hit their fresh 52-week lows.
