Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.4%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 0.6 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(up 0.33 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.14 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 0.11 per cent) and L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 0.07 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Coforge Ltd.(down 1.63 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 1.35 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(down 0.32 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.2 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.01 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.4 per cent down at 37699.25.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 64.55 points at 21782.5, while the BSE Sensex stood up 167.06 points at 71595.49.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Zomato, JP Power and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Orient Press, Sindhu Trade, Apollo Pipes, Orchid Pharma and Keynote Financial hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while ESAF Small Finance, IKIO Lighting, Stampede Cap(DVR), Medicamen Bio and Vinati Organics hit their fresh 52-week lows.
