Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.4%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of MPhasis(up 2.04 per cent), Persistent Systems(up 1.02 per cent), L&T Technology(up 0.97 per cent), Coforge(up 0.63 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd(up 0.5 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Infosys(down 1.55 per cent), Tata Consultancy(down 0.55 per cent), Wipro(down 0.54 per cent) and HCL Technologies(down 0.42 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.4 per cent down at 29328.15.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 46.35 points at 18534.1, while the BSE Sensex stood up 118.57 points at 62547.11.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Zomato, YES Bank, Reliance Power and TV18 Broadcast were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Hardwyn India, KDDL Ltd, The Hi-Tech Gears, Majesco L(PP)and Lumax Auto Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while DU Digital Global, Power & Instrument, Future Enterprises (DVR), Accuracy Shipping and Sintex Plastics Tech hit their fresh 52-week lows.
