Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.39%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of Persistent Systems(up 1.36 per cent), MPhasis(up 0.62 per cent) and Tech Mahindra(up 0.13 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, HCL Technologies(down 2.68 per cent), Wipro(down 0.61 per cent), Infosys(down 0.52 per cent), L&T Technology(down 0.27 per cent) and Coforge(down 0.14 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.39 per cent down at 30870.2.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 36.95 points at 17856.5, while the BSE Sensex stood down 123.52 points at 60682.7.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.
Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of BF Investment, Mold Tek Tech, Geekay Wires, Uniphos Enter and SKM Egg Prod hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Mangalam Global Ent, Megasoft, Reliance Chemo, Lux Ind. and Everest Kanto hit their fresh 52-week lows.
