Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.38%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Monday.
Shares of Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 3.84 per cent), L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 2.49 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(up 1.82 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(up 1.55 per cent) and Infosys Ltd.(up 1.0 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Wipro Ltd.(down 9.23 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 1.1 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 0.78 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.35 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.38 per cent down at 39773.15.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 21.66 points at 24509.25, while the BSE Sensex stood down 102.57 points at 80502.08.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Teleservices, IRFC and Rashtriya Chemicals were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of North Eastern, Sportking India, Antony Waste Handling, Sonam Clock and Nitin Spinners hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Shrenik, Baid Leasing, Brightcom Group, SecUR Credentials and Palred Technologies hit their fresh 52-week lows.
