Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.38%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of L&T Technology(up 1.1 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd(up 0.79 per cent), HCL Technologies(up 0.4 per cent), Infosys(up 0.38 per cent) and Coforge(up 0.25 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Wipro(down 1.97 per cent), Tata Consultancy(down 1.29 per cent), MPhasis(down 0.8 per cent), Persistent Systems(down 0.51 per cent) and Tech Mahindra(down 0.4 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.38 per cent down at 28588.8.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 137.9 points at 18826.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 466.95 points at 63384.58.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 ended in the green, while 11 closed in the red.
Shares of Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, PNB, YES Bank and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of IKIO Lighting Ltd., Ambica Agarbathi, Kalyan Jewellers Ind, Mazagon Dock Ship and Lokesh Machines hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while A G Universal, Kore Digital, Rachana Infrastructu, Auro Impex & Chemic and M K Proteins hit their fresh 52-week lows.
