Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.3%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Monday.
Shares of Coforge Ltd.(up 1.35 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.58 per cent) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.47 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 1.51 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(down 1.3 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.19 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(down 0.81 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.6 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.3 per cent down at 38363.2.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 81.55 points at 22122.25, while the BSE Sensex stood up 281.52 points at 72708.16.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, NHPC, Indian Railway Fin and HFCL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Oriental Trimex, Pritish Nandy, MRPL, JBM Auto and BF Utilities hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vaxtex Cotfab, Ebixcash World Money, N K Industries, Madhya Bharat Agro and Mask Investments hit their fresh 52-week lows.
