Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.26%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.26 per cent), L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 0.51 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.38 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(up 0.21 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 0.14 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 1.16 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.95 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.43 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.41 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(down 0.4 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.26 per cent down at 30639.05.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 30.05 points at 19425.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 72.48 points at 64904.68.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, JP Power, YES Bank, Reliance Power and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of CarTrade Tech, Kothari Petro, Sharda Motor, Antony Waste Handlin and Venus Remedies hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while M K Proteins, Hindcon Chemicals, Compuage Infocom, AKG Exim Ltd. and Blue Jet Healthcare hit their fresh 52-week lows.
