Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.24%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of Persistent Systems(up 1.07 per cent), Infosys(up 0.91 per cent) and MPhasis(up 0.49 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, LTIMindtree Ltd(down 2.75 per cent), L&T Technology(down 1.11 per cent), Coforge(down 0.95 per cent), Tata Consultancy(down 0.89 per cent) and Wipro(down 0.64 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.24 per cent down at 30115.0.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 48.85 points at 18609.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 160.0 points at 62570.68.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, PNB, Central Bank, Suzlon Energy and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Skipper Ltd, Dharmaj Crop Guard Ltd., Central Bank, Punjab Sind Bank and Adroit Infotech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vaxtex Cotfab, DJ Mediaprint & Logi, Ambani Organics, Osia Hyper Retail and South West Pinnacle hit their fresh 52-week lows.
