Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.18%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Thursday.
Shares of L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 1.39 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.49 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.29 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.28 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.56 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 0.42 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.15 per cent) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.11 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.18 per cent down at 32961.6.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 36.55 points at 20901.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 132.04 points at 69521.69.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Reliance Power, Vodafone Idea, Tata Power and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Nagreeka Export, Aakash Exploration, Windsor Machine, Vertoz Advertising and Sandur Manganese hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while APM Finvest, Raj Rayon, Flair Writing Indust, Winsome Yarns and SEL Manufact hit their fresh 52-week lows.
