Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.15%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 2.61 per cent), Mindtree(up 1.52 per cent), MPhasis(up 1.44 per cent), L&T Technology(up 1.38 per cent) and Infosys(up 0.1 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, HCL Technologies(down 2.2 per cent), Wipro(down 1.89 per cent), Coforge(down 1.13 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 0.2 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(down 0.14 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.15 per cent down at 26484.75.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 110.55 points at 16049.2, while the BSE Sensex stood up 344.63 points at 53760.78.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 ended in the green, while 16 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, Zomato Ltd. and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Lumax Auto Tech, GRP Ltd, PC Jeweller, BLS Int. Services and Akshar Spintex hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Electrotherm, Suumaya Lifestyle, DRC Systems India Ltd., Policy Bazaar and Uttam Galva Stl hit their fresh 52-week lows.
