Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.14%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.66 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.45 per cent) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.02 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 0.59 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 0.54 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(down 0.42 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(down 0.4 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(down 0.31 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.14 per cent down at 35691.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 123.95 points at 21778.7, while the BSE Sensex stood up 371.95 points at 72410.38.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 ended in the green, while 12 closed in the red.

Shares of HUDCO, PNB, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Aarti Surfactants(PP), SecMark Consultancy, Lagnam Spintex, Hind Copper and Bhagyanagar Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Akshar Spintex, Bajel Projects, Motisons Jewellers, Vaxtex Cotfab and Muthoot Microfin hit their fresh 52-week lows.
