Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 2.22%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 3.5 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 3.29 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(up 2.42 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 1.86 per cent) and Coforge Ltd.(up 1.71 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 0.36 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 2.22 per cent up at 40010.4.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 187.85 points at 24800.85, while the BSE Sensex stood up 626.91 points at 81343.46.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Teleservices, YES Bank, IRFC and Indian Renewable were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of MTNL, Krebs Biochem, Just Dial, Umang Dairies and Manomay Tex India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sah Polymers, IRIS Clothings, Akme Fintrade(India, Landmark Cars and Praxis Home Retail hit their fresh 52-week lows.
