Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 1.98%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of MphasiS Ltd.(up 4.52 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 2.93 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(up 2.69 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 2.61 per cent) and Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 2.24 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Coforge Ltd.(down 1.4 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 1.98 per cent up at 37679.6.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 148.96 points at 22146.65, while the BSE Sensex stood up 335.39 points at 73097.28.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, NHPC, Indian Railway Fin and Infibeam Avenues were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Solar Ind., Cigniti Tech, Wealth First Port, Niraj Ispat Ind. and Somi Conveyor hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Prudential Sugar, Vaxtex Cotfab, Stampede Cap(DVR), Ace Integrated Solut and IIFL Finance hit their fresh 52-week lows.
