Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 1.75%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Tata Consultancy(up 2.47 per cent), Infosys(up 2.39 per cent), Coforge(up 2.27 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd(up 1.6 per cent) and Persistent Systems(up 1.39 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, HCL Technologies(down 0.16 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 1.75 per cent up at 29628.2.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 29.45 points at 19413.75, while the BSE Sensex stood up 164.99 points at 65558.89.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 32 closed in the red.
Shares of Zomato, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Reliance Power and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Trigyn Tech, Ashoka Metcast, Tejas Networks, Kellton Tech and Refex Industries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Urban Enviro Waste, Ortel Communications, Lexus Granito(India), Vilin Bio Med Ltd. and Magson Retail & Dist hit their fresh 52-week lows.
