Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 1.29%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Friday.

Shares of Coforge Ltd.(up 2.05 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 1.93 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(up 1.49 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 1.38 per cent) and Infosys Ltd.(up 1.31 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 0.22 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 1.29 per cent up at 34851.75.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 52.21 points at 21710.8, while the BSE Sensex stood up 178.58 points at 72026.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.

Shares of Reliance Power, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Alok Industries and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Madhav Marbles, Almondz Global, Alok Industries, Kriti Nutrients and Transindia Real Esta hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Gandhar Oil Refinery, Raj Rayon, SE Power, IndInfravit Trust and GIR Natureview hit their fresh 52-week lows.
